Type 03

Threaded / Screwed Fittings

Manufactured to ASME B16.11 in forged carbon steel (ASTM A105) and stainless steel (ASTM A182 F304 / F316). Pressure classes: Class 2000#, 3000#, and 6000#. Threads: NPT (ASME B1.20.1) and BSP (ISO 7). Types stocked: 45° and 90° elbows, equal tees, reducing tees, reducers, half couplings, full couplings, hex nipples, unions, hex plugs, and bushings. Size range ½" NPS to 4" NPS. Suitable for instrument connections, utility systems, and non-critical utility piping where disassembly is required.

■ SAEP-347
Type 04

Stub Ends & Lap Joint Flanges

Stub ends manufactured to ASME B16.9 (MSS SP-43 for stainless). Type A (long) and Type B (short) stub ends in carbon steel (ASTM A234 WPB) and stainless steel (ASTM A403 WP316L). Used in conjunction with lap joint flanges to allow easy rotation and alignment of bolt holes without rotating the pipe — essential in stainless steel, alloy, or lined piping where the flange can be carbon steel or a lower-cost material. Schedule 40 and 80 wall thicknesses. Size range ½" to 24". Supplied as matched sets with lap joint flanges on request.

Saudi Aramco Compliance

36 Fittings Material Numbers — SAEP-347 Annex 4

Pipe fittings and piping represent the largest single category in Saudi Aramco's SAEP-347 Annex 4 approved stockable materials list — 36 of the 59 total material numbers fall within this category. This reflects the high consumption and repeat procurement of fittings on Saudi Aramco construction, tie-in, and maintenance projects.

Full MTCs and CoCs with every order

  • Gulf Union Ozone stocks pipe fittings compatible with all 36 fitting and piping material numbers listed in SAEP-347 Annex 4 — covering butt weld, socket weld, threaded, and stub end fitting types across all required material grades.
  • Material Test Certificates (EN10204 3.1) are supplied for every fitting. Each MTC includes chemical composition analysis, tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, hardness, and impact values where applicable.
  • Certificates of Conformance confirm dimensional compliance to ASME B16.9 / B16.11 and material compliance to the applicable ASTM specification. All certificates signed by QC manager and cross-referenced to heat and lot number.
  • NDE reports (PT, UT, RT) available on request for alloy steel and high-pressure fittings. Positive Material Identification (PMI) test reports available for stainless steel and alloy steel items where Aramco IK specifications require it.

SAES-L-108 & SAES-L-133 — Cross-Reference Guide
SAES-L-108

Saudi Aramco Engineering Standard L-108 governs piping design and installation. It maps service conditions (fluid, temperature, pressure) to piping material classes — each class specifies the required fitting material, wall schedule, and pressure rating. Most normal-service carbon steel process lines fall under Class A1A, A1B, or A2A; the class determines whether A234 WPB, WPC, or higher-grade materials are required.

SAES-L-133

SAES-L-133 governs the selection of piping for sour service — lines containing hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) above NACE MR0175 threshold concentrations. For fittings in sour service, materials must comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 and SAES-L-133 hardness limits (max 22 HRC for carbon steel). In practice, A234 WPB is acceptable if hardness-verified; A234 WP316L is required for highly corrosive or high-H₂S service.

Know your SAES piping class but not the SAEP-347 material number? Gulf Union Ozone's procurement team cross-references your piping class designation directly to the correct Annex 4 material number — eliminating specification errors before order placement.

In Summary

Pipe fitting material selection for Aramco projects follows three governing documents: the SAEP-347 material number (which identifies the specific pipe fitting type and material), SAES-L-108 (the piping material specification that maps service conditions to material class), and SAES-L-133 (which governs the selection of fittings for each piping class). Carbon steel A234 WPB is the default choice for most normal-service piping operating below 400°F (204°C); A234 WPC offers enhanced toughness at lower temperatures. A403 WP316L stainless steel covers corrosive service and sour service lines per NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, where chloride or hydrogen sulphide content exceeds carbon steel limits. Alloy steel A234 WP11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo) and WP22 (2.25Cr-1Mo) apply above 350°C elevated temperature service, where carbon steel creep resistance is insufficient. Gulf Union Ozone engineers can cross-reference your SAES piping class to recommend the correct SAEP-347 material number.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — Pipe Fittings

Which pipe fittings are compatible with SAEP-347?

Gulf Union Ozone stocks 36 pipe fitting material numbers compatible with Saudi Aramco SAEP-347 — covering butt weld fittings (ASTM A234 WPB, ASME B16.9), socket weld fittings (ASTM A105N, ASME B16.11), and threaded fittings (ASTM A105N, ASME B16.11). All 36 material numbers are held in stock in our Jeddah warehouse for same-day dispatch with EN 10204 3.1 MTCs.

Do you supply MTCs and CoCs for pipe fittings?

Yes. Full Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) are supplied with every pipe fitting order. MTCs are EN 10204 Type 3.1, issued by the manufacturer's independent inspection representative and traceable to the original mill heat number. CoCs confirm dimensional compliance with the applicable ASME B16 standard.

What pipe fitting standards do you carry?

Our inventory covers fittings to ASME B16.9 (butt weld fittings, all schedules from SCH 10 to XXS in sizes ½" to 24"), ASME B16.11 (socket weld and threaded fittings, Classes 3000 and 6000), and MSS SP-75 (high-yield butt weld fittings for pipeline service). All standards are recognized under Saudi Aramco SAEP-347 and SAES-L-108.

What is the difference between ASME B16.9 and ASME B16.11 fittings?

ASME B16.9 covers factory-made wrought butt-weld fittings (elbows, tees, reducers, caps) for sizes NPS ½" to 48" — used on butt-welded piping systems where the fitting is welded into the pipeline. ASME B16.11 covers forged fittings (couplings, elbows, tees, caps) in socket-weld and threaded end connections, typically used in Class 3000 or 6000 for small-bore high-pressure piping (NPS 4" and below). Butt weld fittings are used for large-bore or high-cycle systems; socket weld and threaded for instrument connections and small lines.

Do you stock Schedule 160 and XXS butt weld fittings?

Yes. Gulf Union Ozone stocks ASME B16.9 butt weld fittings in SCH 80, SCH 160, and XXS (double extra strong) in ASTM A234 WPB carbon steel and A403 WP316L stainless steel. Heavy-wall schedules are stocked for high-pressure, high-temperature, and corrosive service lines common in Saudi Aramco refinery and gas plant piping. Contact our team with your wall thickness and size requirements for availability confirmation.
