Gulf Union Ozone stocks ASTM A403 Grade WP304L and WP316L wrought austenitic stainless steel butt weld pipe fittings in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The complete ASME B16.9 range includes elbows (90° LR/SR, 45°, 180°), equal and reducing tees, concentric and eccentric reducers, and end caps — all with EN 10204 Type 3.1 Mill Test Certificates for Saudi Aramco SAEP-347 documentation compliance. For sour H₂S service, WP316L fittings are supplied with 3.1 MTCs showing actual hardness values for NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliance.

ASTM A403 is the specification for wrought austenitic stainless steel pipe fittings manufactured from seamless or welded pipe/plate to ASME B16.9. The most important distinction between grades is the addition of molybdenum in WP316L — the 2–3% Mo content provides significantly better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-bearing environments (seawater, brine, chemical process). For Saudi Aramco projects involving any wet sour service or offshore/nearshore piping, WP316L is the standard choice.
The "L" suffix (low carbon, 0.03% C max) prevents weld sensitization — the carbide precipitation at grain boundaries that occurs with higher-carbon grades during welding and that dramatically reduces corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone. All Saudi Aramco welded stainless piping should use L-grades unless post-weld solution annealing is specified and verified.
| Grade | UNS No. | Carbon Max | Mo % | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WP304 | S30400 | 0.08% | None | General corrosion, mild service |
| WP304L | S30403 | 0.03% | None | Welded fabrication; moderate corrosion |
| WP316 | S31600 | 0.08% | 2–3% | Chlorides, marine, chemical process |
| WP316L | S31603 | 0.03% | 2–3% | NACE sour, seawater, welded SS piping |
If the service fluid contains chlorides above ~200 ppm, or if there is any H₂S partial pressure above 0.3 kPa (NACE MR0175 threshold), specify WP316L — not WP304L. WP304L has no molybdenum and is susceptible to pitting corrosion in chloride-bearing media. In Saudi Arabia, water injection piping, seawater utility, and sour gas service almost universally specify WP316L. Sour service materials guide →
WP316L is listed in NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 for sour H₂S service subject to hardness limits.
| Max hardness | 22 HRC (248 HV / HB 217 max) |

For SAEP-347 acceptance, every EN 10204 3.1 MTC must include:
SAEP-347 stainless steel pipe fittings are supplied to two primary ASTM A403 grades. WP316L is the most common grade for corrosive and sour service piping, adding 2 to 3 percent molybdenum to improve resistance to pitting in chloride environments and H₂S service. WP304L covers general corrosive service where chloride concentrations do not require molybdenum. Both grades are low-carbon at 0.03 percent maximum, preventing weld sensitization. Fittings conform to ASME B16.9 in butt-weld configurations covering 90-degree and 45-degree long-radius elbows, equal and reducing tees, concentric and eccentric reducers, and end caps, in schedules from 10S through 80S. For small-bore connections NPS ¼ to NPS 4, ASTM A182 F316L forged fittings per ASME B16.11 cover socket-weld and threaded ends. SAEP-347 Annex 4 lists the stainless steel fitting material numbers applicable to both the butt-weld and socket-weld ranges. EN 10204 3.1 MTCs with heat-number traceability are required on all deliveries; for sour service, actual hardness values must confirm compliance with NACE MR0175 limits of 22 HRC maximum.

Stainless steel fittings for Saudi Aramco sour-service produced-water piping must comply with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 — maximum hardness HV310 for austenitic grades and HV310 for duplex grades, with ferrite content 35–65% for duplex per ASTM A923 corrosion test. Gulf Union Ozone supplies austenitic 316L butt-weld fittings to ASTM A403 WP316L-S (seamless) with EN 10204 3.1 MTCs confirming hardness, impact test, and corrosion test results for sour-service qualification. Duplex 2205 fittings to ASTM A815 S31803 with PREN certification and NACE MR0175 compliance statement. Positive material identification (PMI) by XRF analyser on all stainless and duplex fittings per Saudi Aramco GI-0002.100 — issued as a PMI certificate with each delivery to Saudi Aramco Goods Receipt. No-go marking on fittings that fail PMI verification.
