SAEP-347 stands for Saudi Aramco Engineering Procedure 347 — Supplying Material from Stockists. It is an internal procurement governance document issued by Saudi Aramco that defines the rules under which a stockist (a company that holds materials in inventory, as opposed to a manufacturer producing to order) may supply certain critical piping materials to Saudi Aramco projects.

The procedure exists because Saudi Aramco needs assurance that materials purchased from stockists — who did not manufacture the product — still meet Aramco's quality, traceability, and documentation standards. Without a governing procedure, there would be no consistent way to verify that a fitting held in a distributor's warehouse for months or years still has full, unbroken traceability back to its originating mill heat.

SAEP-347 fills this gap by specifying: which materials may be sourced from stockists, what documentation is mandatory, what physical marking requirements apply, and how storage conditions must be maintained.

Annex 4 of SAEP-347 is the operative list — formally called the List of Stockable 9COMS (9COMS being Aramco's internal commodity management system prefix). It contains 59 discrete Aramco material numbers, each precisely defined with its applicable SAMSS (Saudi Aramco Material System Specification) reference, size range, pressure class, body material, and end connection type.

A material number in Annex 4 takes the form 6000XXXXXX — a nine-digit Aramco catalog number that uniquely identifies both the product type and its technical specification. When a contractor issues a Purchase Order referencing one of these numbers, they are specifying that the material must meet every attribute in that number's definition.

Gulf Union Ozone has mapped its inventory against all 59 numbers and maintains stock of products meeting the applicable technical requirements, with full documentation ready to ship.

Every shipment of SAEP-347 materials must be accompanied by the following documentation package. Missing any one of these documents is grounds for Aramco inspection rejection:

   Chemical composition and mechanical properties test results from the original mill. Must reference the specific heat number and meet the requirements of the applicable ASTM or API standard cited in the SAMSS.
