Gulf Union Ozone supplies high pressure valves at ASME Class 1500 and Class 2500 for Saudi Aramco projects, gas injection facilities, HP/HT upstream operations, and refinery high-pressure streams. Class 1500 and 2500 designations represent the highest standard pressure ratings in ASME B16.34 — applicable wherever line pressures exceed what Class 900 can safely contain. Gate, globe, and ball valve types are available in carbon steel (WCB), chrome-moly alloy steel (WC6, WC9), and austenitic stainless, with Ring Type Joint (RTJ) flange faces as standard. All valves are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates and are compatible with SAEP-347 Annex 4 material requirements.

ASME pressure class is a shorthand for the pressure-temperature rating of a valve's flanged connections and pressure-containing body. Class 1500 in A216 WCB is rated to approximately 259 bar (3,765 psi) at ambient temperature — declining with temperature per the ASME B16.34 pressure-temperature tables. Class 2500 in the same material rates to approximately 432 bar (6,265 psi) at ambient. These are the two highest standard classes in B16.34, above Class 900 (at approximately 153 bar / 2,220 psi at ambient in WCB).
Class 1500 and 2500 valves are specified in high-pressure upstream and midstream service including: gas injection wells and gas lift manifolds where wellhead pressures can exceed 200 bar; high-pressure gas gathering systems in producing fields; hydrogen recycle service in refinery hydrotreating and hydrocracking units at elevated pressure; and any high-pressure utility stream in a petrochemical complex where Class 900 pressure-temperature capability is exceeded. Saudi Aramco's upstream reservoirs — particularly the deep gas formations in the Empty Quarter and Jafurah — create widespread demand for Class 1500 valves on gas injection and pressure maintenance campaigns.
Class 1500 and 2500 valves are the highest standard-class isolation and control components in process and upstream service — specified when line pressures exceed what Class 900 can contain. Gulf Union Ozone supplies gate, globe, and ball valves at these classes from Jeddah stock, with WCB and WC6 body materials and RTJ flange faces, with full EN 10204 3.1 documentation and SAEP-347 compliance for Saudi Aramco projects.

Saudi Aramco's pressure maintenance programs — injecting gas at high pressure to maintain reservoir pressure and oil recovery — are among the largest consumers of Class 1500 valves in the Kingdom. Injection pressures in deep formations routinely exceed 200–350 bar, requiring Class 1500 gate and ball valves on injection headers, manifolds, and choke assemblies. Gulf Union Ozone maintains Class 1500 WCB and WC6 gate valves in Jeddah stock to support rapid supply to Aramco-affiliated EPC projects across the Eastern Province and Jubail.

ASME Class 1500 and Class 2500 valves are specified in Saudi Aramco high-pressure process piping where system maximum allowable working pressure exceeds the Class 900 rating for the applicable body material and temperature. Class 1500 gate valves per API 600 handle design pressures up to approximately 250 bar (3,625 psi) at ambient temperature in ASTM A216 WCB carbon steel, while Class 2500 valves extend to approximately 420 bar (6,090 psi) — the highest standard ASME pressure class for piping valves. Saudi Aramco applies Class 1500 to high-pressure gas injection systems, wellhead production trees, high-pressure glycol dehydration, and compression station suction and discharge. Class 2500 appears in wellhead production choke service, high-pressure water injection, and subsea pipeline isolation systems. SAEP-347 Annex 4 includes Class 1500 gate valve material numbers in both carbon steel and alloy steel body materials. Body wall thickness at Class 1500 and 2500 is significantly greater than lower classes — procurement teams must verify the correct pressure class before ordering to avoid incorrect-weight deliveries.
ASME pressure class defines the pressure-temperature rating of a valve's pressure-containing elements. Class 1500 in ASTM A216 WCB is rated to 259 bar (3,765 psi) at ambient temperature. Class 2500 in WCB is rated to 432 bar (6,272 psi) at ambient — specified for the most extreme upstream applications including very high-pressure gas injection, HPHT well services, and ultra-high-pressure process streams. Both classes require Ring Type Joint (RTJ) flange faces in most applications. Class 2500 valves are typically five to ten times the cost of a Class 150 equivalent in the same size and material, reflecting the much heavier wall sections needed.
Saudi Aramco specifies several valve types at Class 1500 and 2500. Gate valves (API 600 or BS EN 13709) are the primary isolation valve — wedge gate in WCB, WC6, or WC9. For sour service, NACE MR0175 compliance with SSC-resistant trim is also required. Globe valves at Class 1500 are used for pressure letdown and throttling at high differential pressure. Trunnion mounted ball valves (API 6D) are used for gas injection and pipeline isolation — mandatory trunnion design at Class 900 and above. API 602 forged valves in Class 1500 and 2500 are used for small-bore gas injection headers (NPS ½ to 2½). SAEP-347 Annex 4 covers all configurations with specific material numbers.
Body material at Class 1500 and 2500 depends on service fluid and temperature. ASTM A216 WCB (cast carbon steel) is the baseline for general service up to 425 °C. At Class 1500, WCB valves have significantly greater wall thickness than Class 600 to contain rated pressure. ASTM A217 WC6 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo) is specified for high-temperature refinery service up to 593 °C. ASTM A217 WC9 (2.25Cr-1Mo) adds improved creep resistance for the most demanding high-temperature applications. For sour service (H2S) at Class 1500, carbon steel bodies must be combined with NACE MR0175-compliant trim — maximum HRC 22 hardness on stem and seat materials. Gulf Union Ozone stocks WCB and WC6 Class 1500 gate valves from Jeddah, with Class 2500 and specialty alloys available to order.
Raised Face (RF) flanges use a spiral wound gasket between two raised annular faces. At Class 150 through 900, bolt preloads are sufficient to compress the gasket and maintain the seal under rated pressure. At Class 1500 and above, the hydrostatic end force on the flange face from line pressure can overcome gasket preload — particularly at elevated temperatures when bolt relaxation reduces clamp force. Ring Type Joint (RTJ) flanges use a solid metallic ring (oval or octagonal cross-section) seated into machined grooves in the flange face. The metal-to-metal seal resists the hydrostatic end force at high pressure and is not affected by bolt relaxation in the same way. Gulf Union Ozone supplies Class 1500 and 2500 valves with RTJ faces as standard — RTJ ring sets (Grade R or RX) are supplied with each valve.
High-pressure Class 1500 and Class 2500 valve procurement for Saudi Aramco requires augmented documentation compared to lower pressure classes. Beyond the standard EN 10204 3.1 body casting MTC and API 598 pressure test, SAEP-347 and applicable 04-SAMSS specifications require: radiographic examination of body casting welds per ASME B16.34 augmented examination requirements for pressure-integrity welds; pressure-temperature derating curves from the manufacturer confirming rated MAWP at service temperature; bolting documentation (ASTM A193 B7 stud bolts with A194 2H nuts) with EN 10204 3.1 MTCs for all pressure boundary fasteners; and hardness testing per NACE MR0175 on all wetted parts if sour service applies. For Class 2500 ring-joint gasket flanges, RTJ ring material and dimensional conformance per ASME B16.20 is documented in the QC dossier. Gulf Union Ozone sources Class 1500 and Class 2500 valves with the complete augmented documentation package required for Saudi Aramco high-pressure service acceptance and Goods Receipt inspection from our Jeddah warehouse.
