Product Types in Stock

All grooved fitting types are manufactured to AWWA C606 and supplied with full traceability documentation. UL Listed and FM Approved items are stocked for fire protection service. ISO 9001:2015 quality system governs all incoming inspection and documentation.

Type 01

Flexible Couplings

Two-piece ductile iron housing (ASTM A536 Gr.65-45-12) with a full-circle C-shaped gasket that engages the groove on each pipe end. Flexible couplings permit angular deflection (up to 3°–6° depending on pipe diameter), axial movement, and vibration attenuation. AWWA C606, UL 213 Listed, FM 1920 Approved. Gasket grades: EPDM (Grade E, water/HVAC), Nitrile (Grade T, petroleum), Silicone (high-temp steam to 177°C). Available 1" NPS to 24" NPS in ductile iron; 1" to 8" in SS316L housing. Supplied with ASTM A449 Gr.5 hex bolts and nuts, hot-dip galvanised.

Type 02

Rigid Couplings

Zero-flex grooved couplings designed to provide a rigid, structural-quality joint equivalent to a welded or flanged connection. Housing: ductile iron ASTM A536 Gr.80-55-06 or carbon steel ASTM A234 WPB. Tongue-and-groove key design prevents pipe rotation and axial movement, allowing rigid couplings to serve as pipe hangers and structural supports. AWWA C606, UL 213 Listed, FM 1920 Approved. Available 1" NPS to 24" NPS. Rigid couplings are specified on fire mains where system designers require no pipe movement, and in HVAC headers where loop expansion is controlled by dedicated anchors and expansion loops.

Type 03

Elbows, Tees & Reducers

Grooved-end fittings including 90°, 45°, 22½°, and 11¼° elbows; equal and reducing tees; mechanical tees with branch outlets; equal crosses; concentric and eccentric reducers; and end caps. Cast ductile iron body (ASTM A536 Gr.65-45-12) for 1"–12" NPS; carbon steel fabricated with grooved ends (ASTM A234 WPB to ASME B16.9 with AWWA C606 grooves) for 2"–24" NPS. All grooves cut or roll-formed to AWWA C606 groove dimensions. UL Listed and FM Approved fittings in ductile iron. Each fitting assembled into the grooved system using standard flexible or rigid couplings — no welding, no flanging, no hot work permits required.

Type 04

Flange Adapters & Transitions

Grooved-to-flange adapters connect grooved piping systems to flanged equipment (pumps, chillers, AHUs) without cutting or welding. Available to ANSI Class 150 RF, ANSI Class 300 RF (ASME B16.5), and PN16 / PN25 (EN 1092-1) bolt patterns. Body material: ductile iron ASTM A536 Gr.65-45-12 with EPDM gasket and AWWA C606 grooved pipe end. Grooved-to-plain-end transition couplings connect grooved pipe to ungrooved pipe ends or existing plain-end pipework. Step couplings join two different nominal pipe sizes. All adapters carry full MTCs and CoCs. Stocked 1" NPS to 12" NPS; ANSI 150# and PN16 bolt circles in all sizes.

Type 05

Grooved-End Valves

A full range of grooved-end valves for fire protection and HVAC: OS&Y gate valves (UL Listed, FM Approved, ductile iron body to API 600 / AWWA C515); grooved butterfly valves (MSS SP-68, UL Listed, FM Approved, EPDM disc lining, 2"–12"); grooved ball valves (API 608, full bore, carbon steel body ASTM A105, PTFE seats, 1"–6"); grooved swing check valves (API 594, UL Listed, FM Approved, ductile iron ASTM A536, 2"–12"); and wafer-type butterfly valves (MSS SP-67, FM Approved, 2"–12"). All valves feature AWWA C606 grooved ends for tool-free coupling connection. Grooved valves are used for zone isolation, pump control, and backflow prevention in fire sprinkler and chilled water distribution systems.

Type 06

Complementary grooved system accessories stocked by Gulf Union Ozone include: Y-strainers with 316SS screen (MSS SP-82, ductile iron body, 2"–10"); grooved riser nipples in hot-dip galvanised carbon steel (ASTM A53 Gr.B); mechanical tees with FNPT branch outlets; female and male NPT adapters; replacement EPDM (Grade E), Nitrile (Grade T), and Silicone gasket sets; and ASTM A449 Gr.5 bolt and nut replacement sets for all coupling sizes. SS316L grooved fittings (ASTM A403 WP316L) — 90° elbows, equal tees, concentric reducers — are stocked in 1"–8" NPS for corrosive applications in desalination plants, chemical facilities, and offshore topsides. Mechanical joint (MJ) adapters (AWWA C110/C606) are stocked for connecting grooved pipe to underground AWWA MJ pipework, 4"–12".

In Summary

Grooved mechanical couplings and fittings are not listed under SAEP-347 Annex 4 but are widely used across Saudi Aramco utility, fire-water, and HVAC piping systems under SAEP-14 and project-specific engineering specifications. Three body material grades are stocked: ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 ductile iron housing for standard service; ASTM A234 WPB carbon steel housing for higher-pressure applications; and AISI 304/316 stainless steel housing for corrosive service in desalination plants, offshore topsides, and chemical facilities. Standards governing the range include AWWA C606 for grooved couplings and grooved-end pipe dimensions, ISO 6182 for fire protection system components, and ANSI/AWWA C110 for fitting dimensions. Couplings are stocked from 1" to 12" NPS; grooved fittings — elbows, equal and reducing tees, concentric and eccentric reducers, and end caps — are stocked from ½" to 8" NPS, all UL Listed and FM Approved for fire protection service in Saudi Arabia.

In Summary

A key engineering advantage of grooved mechanical joints is their built-in flexibility: each flexible coupling permits up to ±3° angular deflection and controlled axial movement, making grooved piping systems the preferred choice for seismically active zones and for vibration isolation around rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors in Saudi Arabia process plants. This flexibility absorbs thermal expansion and pipe movement without dedicated expansion loops or bellows. Gasket grade selection is determined by the service fluid: EPDM (Grade E) for water and HVAC service to +110°C; Nitrile/Buna-N (Grade T) for petroleum products, oils, and diesel to +82°C; Silicone for high-temperature steam and hot-water service to +177°C. Gulf Union Ozone supplies complete grooved piping systems — flexible and rigid couplings, the full range of fittings, grooved-end valves, and replacement gasket kits for all sizes — from a single Jeddah warehouse for immediate dispatch across Saudi Arabia.

Working pressure range for standard grooved fittings: 300 psi (20.7 bar) to 500 psi (34.5 bar) depending on size and coupling type. Rigid couplings generally carry higher pressure ratings than flexible couplings of the same size. Always verify the coupling manufacturer's published pressure-size table for your specific configuration. Gulf Union Ozone supplies the manufacturer's technical data sheet with every product shipment.
