PTFE-lined butterfly valves provide full chemical isolation between the process fluid and the carbon steel body — the entire flow path including body bore, disc face, and shaft seal area is lined with virgin PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). This eliminates metallic corrosion by aggressive acids, alkalis, and chlorinated solvents, enabling the use of a standard carbon steel body at a fraction of the cost of a fully alloy valve.
