Gulf Union Ozone stocks six membrane filtration product families spanning the complete pressure-driven membrane spectrum from microfiltration through to seawater reverse osmosis, together with the FRP pressure vessels and membrane housings required for complete system assemblies for Saudi Arabia desalination and water treatment plants.
Thin-film composite (TFC) polyamide seawater reverse osmosis membrane elements in the industry-standard 8-inch by 40-inch format (8040 element), delivering 99.7–99.8% NaCl rejection at 55–80 bar operating pressure from Red Sea water (42,000–45,000 mg/L TDS) and Arabian Gulf water (45,000–50,000 mg/L TDS). Gulf Union Ozone stocks SWRO elements from DowDuPont FilmTec (SW30XLE-400, SW30HR-380 — the global benchmark for energy-efficient SWRO), Toray (TM820C-400 — approved by the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, SWCC), and Hydranautics (SWC5-LD — high-rejection, low energy design). Permeate flux: 9.9–10.6 m³/day per element at standard test conditions; typical installed flux in SWRO systems 12–15 L/m²/h (LMH) at 40–45% recovery. Maximum operating pressure 83 bar; maximum chlorine tolerance zero — feedwater must be fully dechlorinated with sodium metabisulphite (SMBS). Minimum SDI requirement: SDI15 below 4 for SWRO feed. Elements compatible with 8-inch FRP pressure vessels in 6-element or 7-element configurations (Codeline 80S, Pentair Codeline 80HP to 1,000 psi for high-pressure SWRO). Supplied with manufacturer performance data sheet and third-party test report per ASTM D4194. Applications: Saudi Arabia national desalination plants, SWCC Yanbu and Jubail facilities, power plant seawater intake treatment, private desalination for hotels and resorts on the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf coast.
Thin-film composite (TFC) polyamide brackish water reverse osmosis membrane elements for treatment of groundwater, municipal secondary water, industrial process water, and cooling tower blowdown in Saudi Arabia at operating pressures of 10–25 bar and NaCl rejection of 99.4–99.5%. Available in 8-inch (8040) elements for large industrial and municipal systems — FilmTec BW30-400 (standard), BW30-365 (lower flux, higher rejection for quality-sensitive applications), and Toray TM720C-400 — and in 4-inch (4040) elements for medium-scale systems and skid-mounted point-of-use applications, including the Hydranautics ESPA2-LD-4040. BWRO operates at significantly lower energy consumption than SWRO: specific energy consumption 0.5–1.5 kWh/m³ versus 3–5 kWh/m³ for SWRO, making BWRO the preferred technology for Saudi Arabia groundwater desalination where well salinity is below 10,000 mg/L TDS. Typical recovery: 70–80% for groundwater with low scaling potential. Pre-treatment requirement: SDI15 below 5, turbidity below 1 NTU. Antiscalant dosing to the feed is essential for Saudi Arabia groundwater with high hardness and sulphate. FRP pressure vessels: 4-element or 6-element Codeline 40S (4-inch) or 80S (8-inch) side-port or end-port, pressure-rated to 300 psi (21 bar). Applications: factory and industrial process water, boiler feed pre-treatment (ahead of DM plant), hotel and commercial potable water, agricultural water conditioning, cooling tower make-up water across all Saudi regions.
Nanofiltration (NF) membrane elements with pore sizes in the range 0.001–0.01 micrometres, positioned between ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis in the membrane spectrum. NF membranes are characterised by high rejection of divalent and multivalent ions (calcium, magnesium, sulphate — 90–99% rejection) while passing monovalent ions (sodium, chloride, potassium) at significantly lower rejection (20–50%), making NF ideal for water softening without full desalination, colour and natural organic matter (NOM/TOC) removal, and selective ion removal (nitrate, fluoride, barium) without substantially reducing mineral content. Operating pressure 6–15 bar — substantially lower energy requirement than RO. FilmTec NF270-400: 90–97% divalent rejection, 15.1 m³/day permeate flux at 7 bar, excellent for colour, TOC, and humic acid removal from surface water. FilmTec NF90-400: 97–99% divalent rejection, 12.2 m³/day flux, for applications requiring near-full divalent removal with reduced monovalent TDS. Hydranautics ESNA1-LF2-4040: 4-inch format for medium-scale systems. Applications in Saudi Arabia: partial softening of cooling tower make-up water (reduces sulphate scaling risk without full desalination), colour and TOC reduction in surface water treatment for industrial applications, nitrate and fluoride selective removal from potable water, and water conditioning ahead of ion exchange polishing to reduce regenerant consumption.
Hollow fibre ultrafiltration (UF) modules with PVDF or PES membrane and pore sizes of 0.01–0.1 micrometres for reliable RO membrane pre-treatment delivering silt density index (SDI15) below 2 and turbidity below 0.1 NTU regardless of feedwater fluctuations. UF hollow fibre modules are the internationally accepted standard pre-treatment for SWRO systems exposed to Saudi Arabia Red Sea and Arabian Gulf seawater, where seasonal algal blooms, jellyfish proliferation, and high biological oxygen demand (BOD) can rapidly foul conventional multimedia pressure filters and cause SWRO membrane irreversible biofouling. PVDF hollow fibre membranes are resistant to the aggressive chemical enhanced backwash (CEB) protocols required: sodium hypochlorite (200–500 ppm) for biological fouling, citric acid for iron and manganese fouling. Outside-in flow configuration allows high-turbidity feedwater operation without internal fibre blockage. Gulf Union Ozone stocks UF modules from Pall (Aria AP-4, 0.02 µm, greater than 3.5 log virus removal), Koch Membrane Systems (HF-UF series, PVDF, 0.03 µm), and Toray (TORAYFIL HUF, 0.01 µm — achieves SDI below 1 consistently). Air backwash and reverse flow CEB cleaning restore permeability without manual intervention. Modular design allows capacity expansion by adding modules in parallel. Flow rates per module: 5–50 m³/h depending on model. Applications: pre-treatment for SWRO desalination, municipal surface water treatment, produced water treatment, industrial process water, and secondary wastewater treatment polishing ahead of RO in Saudi Arabia water reuse schemes.
Ceramic tubular and multichannel membranes in aluminium oxide (Al2O3) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) for microfiltration and ultrafiltration in chemically aggressive, thermally demanding, or solvent-containing process streams where organic polymer membranes are unsuitable. Key characteristics: pH operating range 0–14 (full acid and caustic CIP cleaning without membrane degradation), temperature resistance up to 400°C, no swelling or compaction under high pressure, and service life measured in decades rather than years. Pore sizes: 0.04 µm (alumina UF for colloid removal), 0.2 µm (titania MF for particulate removal), 0.8 µm (coarse MF). Atech Innovations Al2O3 tubular ceramic membranes: multichannel monolith design, cross-flow filtration, high-flux cleaning by backwash and CIP with NaOCl, NaOH, or HNO3. Pall Membralox TiO2 multichannel membranes: food-grade and pharmaceutical quality. Applications in Saudi Arabia oil and gas and petrochemical industry: produced water and oily water treatment (oil removal to below 10 mg/L), desalination pre-treatment for high-turbidity or high-oil feedwaters at power plant intakes, solvent recovery, pharmaceutical process filtration, and chemical plant process streams where chlorinated solvents or strong acids would destroy organic membranes. Cross-flow velocity requirement: typically 2–5 m/s for effective surface shear and fouling control.
Filament-wound fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) pressure vessels and SS 316L membrane housings for housing RO, NF, and UF spiral-wound membrane elements in 4-inch (100 mm) and 8-inch (200 mm) configurations. FRP pressure vessels are the industry standard for reverse osmosis system arrays, combining high pressure rating (300–1,000 psi / 21–69 bar), low weight, corrosion resistance to concentrate and permeate streams, and long service life exceeding 25 years. Gulf Union Ozone stocks Codeline/Pentair pressure vessels: 80S Series 8-inch vessels in 6-element and 7-element configurations rated to 300 psi (21 bar) for BWRO, NF, and UF; Codeline 80HP Series rated to 1,000 psi (69 bar) for SWRO seawater applications; Codeline 40S Series 4-inch vessels in 4-element and 6-element configurations rated to 300 psi. Side-port and end-port designs available — side-port is the standard for multi-element arrays allowing individual element sampling and permeate collection from each element position; end-port for single-element systems and pilot-scale testing. Interconnectors, brine seals, end caps, and anti-telescoping devices (ATDs) for FilmTec, Toray, and Hydranautics element compatibility supplied with each vessel. For pharmaceutical and hygienic applications, SS 316L membrane housings with tri-clamp connections, electropolished internal finish (Ra below 0.8 µm), and ASME BPE compliance are available in 4-inch and 8-inch sizes, rated to 150–300 psi, for BWRO and NF elements in pharmaceutical purified water and water-for-injection pre-treatment systems. Saudi Arabia stock: Jeddah warehouse.

Gulf Union Ozone supplies the full range of reverse osmosis membrane elements for Saudi Arabia desalination and water treatment. For seawater desalination from Red Sea and Arabian Gulf sources, we stock 8-inch SWRO elements from DowDuPont FilmTec (SW30XLE-400, SW30HR-380), Toray (TM820C-400 — SWCC approved), and Hydranautics (SWC5-LD) at 99.7–99.8% NaCl rejection and 55–80 bar operating pressure. For brackish water treatment — groundwater desalination, industrial process water, and boiler feed pre-treatment — we supply 4-inch and 8-inch BWRO elements at 99.4–99.5% rejection and 10–25 bar, including the FilmTec BW30-400 and Hydranautics ESPA series. For partial demineralisation, divalent softening, or colour and TOC reduction, nanofiltration (NF) membranes such as FilmTec NF270-400 (90–97% divalent rejection) are available at just 6–15 bar operating pressure. Pre-treatment SDI must be met — typically SDI15 below 4 for SWRO and below 5 for BWRO — and Gulf Union Ozone supplies multimedia filters, cartridge pre-filters, and UF hollow fibre modules to achieve these targets. Contact us with your feedwater analysis and system requirements for element model selection and system design assistance.
Reverse osmosis membrane filtration removes dissolved salts, organics, and microbiological contaminants from seawater and brackish water at SWCC desalination plants, Saudi Aramco injection-water treatment systems, and industrial process water facilities. Gulf Union Ozone supplies Dow FILMTEC, Hydranautics, and Toray RO membrane elements for both SWRO (seawater) and BWRO (brackish water) applications — from 4-inch spiral-wound elements for small skids to 16-inch large-diameter membranes for SWCC mega-plants. Membrane housings in fibreglass, PVC, and ASME Section VIII stainless steel pressure vessels. Salt rejection rates of 99.8% at 800 psi operating pressure for SWRO elements designed for Arabian Gulf seawater at 40,000 ppm TDS.
The choice between ultrafiltration (UF) and microfiltration (MF) for RO pre-treatment depends on feedwater quality and the RO membrane being protected. UF membranes at 0.01–0.1 micrometres are the preferred pre-treatment for SWRO and high-quality BWRO systems — they consistently deliver SDI below 2 and turbidity below 0.1 NTU regardless of feedwater fluctuations, including algal bloom events common in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. PVDF hollow fibre UF modules from Pall, Koch, and Toray use air backwash and chemically enhanced backwash (CEB) to maintain long-term performance. MF membranes at 0.1–0.5 micrometres are suitable for BWRO pre-treatment where feedwater quality is more consistent — well water with low SDI, pre-settled surface water, or secondary treated wastewater — where SDI below 3–4 is reliably achievable. MF operates at lower transmembrane pressure and lower capital cost than UF but is less reliable for variable quality feedwaters. For groundwater BWRO systems in Saudi Arabia with stable, low-turbidity well water, conventional dual-media pressure filters with 5-micrometre cartridge pre-filters may be sufficient as pre-treatment without UF or MF. Gulf Union Ozone can evaluate your feedwater quality and recommend the most cost-effective pre-treatment configuration.
Pre-treatment before reverse osmosis membranes is critical for membrane longevity at Saudi sites exposed to red-tide algal blooms (Arabian Gulf) and high-turbidity conditions after Red Sea storms. Gulf Union Ozone supplies multimedia filtration vessels, ultrafiltration (UF) hollow-fibre membrane skids, cartridge filter housings with 5-micron nominal string-wound or pleated polypropylene elements, and anti-scalant dosing systems. Chlorination followed by dechlorination is required for biocide control without damaging polyamide RO membranes — chemical dosing packages with sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulphite tanks and pumps are supplied as integrated pre-treatment systems.
Antiscalant selection for SWRO in Saudi Arabia depends on source water chemistry. Red Sea water (42,000–45,000 mg/L TDS) has elevated sulphate and seasonal biological activity, requiring antiscalants effective against calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, and barium sulphate at the concentrate end. Arabian Gulf water additionally contains higher silica and organic matter. The Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) and Stiff-Davis Index must be calculated for each source water at the target recovery rate — at 40–45% recovery typical for SWRO, concentrate LSI is substantially positive and requires antiscalant dosing at 1–5 mg/L on the RO feed. For cleaning-in-place (CIP) of fouled SWRO membranes, a two-stage protocol is standard: low-pH acid cleaning (2% citric acid at pH 2.0) for inorganic scale followed by high-pH alkaline cleaning (0.1% NaOH with SDS surfactant at pH 12) for biological and organic fouling. Maximum cleaning temperature for most polyamide TFC membranes is 45°C. Chlorine tolerance is zero — all RO feedwater must be dechlorinated with sodium metabisulphite (SMBS) before the membrane feed pump. Gulf Union Ozone supplies SMBS, antiscalant, CIP acid and alkaline chemicals for Saudi Arabia RO operations. WhatsApp 966550988062 for chemical compatibility advice on your specific feedwater.
Gulf Union Ozone supplies RO membrane cleaning systems for SWCC and Saudi Aramco produced-water treatment plants including: cleaning-in-place (CIP) skids with chemical tanks, recirculation pumps, heating elements and pH probes; membrane autopsies (site or laboratory) for fouling analysis; and replacement membrane programs for planned five-year membrane changeouts at large desalination facilities. SWCC membrane procurement tenders on the Etimad platform are supported with full tender documentation including membrane datasheets, NSF/ANSI 61 certifications, and manufacturer approval-of-vendor letters.
