Type 01

Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump (Single Stage, LRVP)

Single-stage liquid ring vacuum pumps (LRVPs) for industrial process vacuum in Saudi Arabia chemical, petrochemical, water treatment, food, and paper industry applications. The LRVP generates vacuum through a rotating impeller within an eccentric casing partially filled with a service liquid (water as standard; glycol, acid, or compatible solvent alternatives for chemical service) — the rotating liquid ring creates sealed cavities that draw in, compress, and discharge the gas stream. Single-stage LRVPs achieve ultimate vacuum of approximately 33 mbar abs (water-sealed at 15°C service water temperature) — matching the vacuum level commonly required for vacuum filtration, vacuum crystallisation, vacuum deaeration, condenser air removal, vacuum distillation rough vacuum stages, and evaporator vacuum service across Saudi Arabia. Available in a wide capacity range from 5 m³/h to 30,000 m³/h pumping speed. Cast iron casing and impeller for standard water and steam service; SS 316L casing and impeller for corrosive vapour applications involving acid vapours, saline water, and aqueous chemical condensates; PVDF body with SS 316L or ceramic impeller for HCl and HF vapour service; Hastelloy C-276 for the most aggressive halide and strong acid duty. Service liquid separator and cooler packages supplied for closed-loop service liquid recirculation. ATEX II 2G Zone 1 certified models available for petroleum and solvent vapour applications in classified areas of Saudi Aramco refineries and chemical plants. Mechanical seal options: packing (lowest cost), single mechanical seal (standard), double mechanical seal with barrier fluid (for toxic or hazardous vapour service). ISO 9001:2015 certified (CR 4030570569), Jeddah stock.

Type 02

Two-Stage Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump (Deep Vacuum)

Two-stage liquid ring vacuum pumps achieving ultimate vacuum down to approximately 25 mbar abs (versus 33 mbar abs for single-stage) by passing the partially compressed gas from the first stage impeller directly into the second stage impeller within the same casing or a second separate casing — effectively achieving the compression ratio of two pump stages in series. Two-stage LRVPs are the preferred choice in Saudi Arabia for applications requiring vacuum in the range 25–50 mbar abs where single-stage vacuum is insufficient and steam ejector operating cost is not justified: vacuum distillation column vacuum systems, evaporator boiling-point elevation vacuum, vacuum dehydration of transformer oil, and deep vacuum filtration of fine chemical precipitates. The two-stage design within a single pump body eliminates the condensate slug risk between stages that would occur in two separate single-stage pumps in series. Same material range as single-stage: cast iron (standard), SS 316L (corrosive vapour), PVDF (HCl/HF service), Hastelloy C-276 (severe acid service). Service liquid temperature has a greater effect on achievable vacuum in two-stage LRVPs — chilled water (5–15°C) service liquid extends vacuum beyond 30 mbar abs. ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 versions available. Combined LRVP plus condenser pre-cooler packages supplied for applications with high condensable vapour loads — the condenser removes condensable vapours upstream of the pump, protecting the service liquid from contamination and extending service liquid life. Capacity range 5–5,000 m³/h; power 0.75–250 kW. Jeddah stock; delivery nationwide across Saudi Arabia.

Type 03

Dry Screw Vacuum Pump (Oil-Free, Ultra-Clean)

Dry screw vacuum pumps for ultra-high vacuum levels down to 0.001 mbar abs (1 Pa) and oil-free, clean vacuum applications in Saudi Arabia pharmaceutical, semiconductor, fine chemical, and industrial process facilities. The dry screw design uses two intermeshing helical screw rotors rotating in opposite directions without contact — no sealing liquid, no lubricating oil in the gas path — making the pump inherently oil-free and eliminating both product contamination from pump oil back-streaming and the disposal cost of contaminated service liquid. Achieves ultimate vacuum to 0.001 mbar abs (better than any LRVP) while handling large condensable vapour loads, polymer-forming gases, and aggressive chemical vapours with appropriate pump body temperature control (heated body jacket to prevent vapour condensation inside the pump). Handles gas streams containing dust, particulates, and low concentrations of corrosive vapours. Variable pitch screw design progressively reduces the trapped volume along the screw length, achieving high compression ratio in a single stage. Available with stainless steel rotors and casing or coating options (PTFE, Halar) for corrosive gas service. Nitrogen purge gas injection ports standard — used to dilute explosive or toxic vapour concentrations below LEL at the pump inlet and to purge condensates from the pump body during shutdown. ATEX II 2G Zone 1 versions available for flammable vapour service. Applications in Saudi Arabia: pharmaceutical active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) drying and solvent recovery, petrochemical vacuum distillation, semiconductor CVD chamber evacuation, freeze drying, battery manufacturing, and vacuum impregnation. Power range 1.5–315 kW. ISO 9001:2015 certified, Jeddah.

Type 04

Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump (Oil-Sealed, Compact)

Oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps for laboratory, workshop, and small-scale process vacuum applications across Saudi Arabia — the most compact and cost-effective mechanical vacuum pump technology for clean, dry, non-condensing gas service. The rotary vane pump uses spring-loaded vanes rotating eccentrically in a cylindrical stator bore, with the vane tips and rotor sides sealed by thin oil films — achieving ultimate vacuum down to 0.1 mbar abs (single-stage) and 0.001 mbar abs (two-stage high-vacuum variants). The oil sealing film provides excellent gas tightness at low vacuum but is incompatible with condensable vapours (water vapour, solvents) that dissolve the oil and degrade vacuum performance — a cold trap or condenser upstream of the pump is required when handling vapour-laden gas streams. Single-stage rotary vane pumps: ultimate vacuum 0.3–1 mbar abs; pumping speed 2–300 m³/h; compact direct-drive design; suitable for laboratory vacuum, autoclave vacuum, freeze dryer secondary vacuum, degassing chambers, and small process vessels. Two-stage rotary vane pumps: ultimate vacuum 0.001–0.01 mbar abs; pumping speed 0.5–30 m³/h; high-vacuum laboratory, electron microscope, leak detection, and thin-film deposition applications. Oil-free dry claw or scroll vacuum pumps available as alternatives where oil contamination of the vacuum stream is unacceptable — dry claw pumps achieve 0.01–1 mbar abs in an oil-free design suitable for pharmaceutical, food, and electronics manufacturing vacuum in Saudi Arabia. Spare parts kits (vanes, oil, oil mist filter) stocked in Jeddah. ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Type 05

Steam Jet Ejector (Multi-Stage, No Moving Parts)

Single-stage, two-stage, three-stage, and multi-stage steam jet ejector systems for large-capacity industrial vacuum in Saudi Arabia refinery, petrochemical, and chemical process applications where no moving parts, reliable operation with corrosive or high-temperature vapours, and large gas throughput are required. The steam ejector operates on the Venturi principle: high-pressure motivating steam (typically 8–20 barg) expands supersonically through a converging-diverging nozzle, entraining the suction gas at vacuum conditions, then compressing the mixture through a diffuser to discharge at a higher absolute pressure. No rotating components — virtually zero mechanical maintenance, no wear parts, no seals to replace. A single-stage ejector achieves approximately 50–150 mbar abs vacuum; two-stage with inter-stage condenser reaches 5–20 mbar abs; three-stage systems reach 0.5–2 mbar abs; and five-stage systems achieve 0.05–0.1 mbar abs for deep vacuum distillation. Inter-stage condensers (direct-contact or surface condensers in cast iron, SS 316L, or Hastelloy) remove condensed steam and vapours between stages, reducing the suction load and operating steam consumption for the next stage. Handles high-temperature process vapours (200–400°C) directly without condensation risk; handles corrosive vapours (H2S, HCl, SO₂) in SS 316L or Hastelloy construction. Motivating steam consumption is the primary operating cost — optimised nozzle design minimises steam use while maintaining required vacuum level. Applications in Saudi Arabia: crude oil vacuum distillation columns (Saudi Aramco VDUs), lube oil vacuum distillation, fatty acid distillation, evaporator condenser vacuum, and jet condenser systems. Air jet ejectors (using compressed air as motive gas) available as steam-free alternatives for smaller applications. Complete skid-mounted ejector systems supplied with all inter-stage condensers, hot wells, vacuum gauge, and pressure controls.

Type 06

Frequently Asked Questions

Vacuum Pumps & Systems in Saudi Arabia — Common Questions

What vacuum pump technology should I choose for chemical and petrochemical applications in Saudi Arabia?

Vacuum pump selection for chemical and petrochemical applications in Saudi Arabia depends on four key criteria: required vacuum level (ultimate pressure achievable), vapour compatibility (can the process gas or vapour contaminate the pump?), oil-free or clean vacuum requirement (is any pump oil contamination of the process gas tolerable?), and throughput (pumping speed in m³/h at the required operating vacuum). At the coarser end of the vacuum range — 1000 mbar abs down to approximately 25–33 mbar abs — liquid ring vacuum pumps (LRVPs) are the most commonly specified technology for chemical and petrochemical service in Saudi Arabia. The LRVP generates vacuum by a rotating impeller within an eccentric casing partially filled with a service liquid. The rotating liquid ring forms alternately increasing and decreasing sealed cavities that draw in and compress the gas stream, isolating process vapour entirely from any mechanical oil. LRVP materials must match the service: SS 316L impeller and casing for most aqueous service and mild acid vapours; PVDF body for HCl and HF acid service; Hastelloy C-276 or titanium for aggressive halide and strong acid vapours. For vacuum levels below 25 mbar abs down to 0.001 mbar abs — required for vacuum distillation, molecular distillation, pharmaceutical drying, freeze drying, and solvent recovery — dry screw vacuum pumps are the preferred choice. Dry screw pumps are oil-free (no sealing liquid or lubricating oil in the gas path), eliminating both vapour absorption losses and any product contamination risk. The twin-rotor dry screw design handles condensable vapours, polymer-forming gases, and pyrophoric materials with appropriate pump body heating and nitrogen purge gas injection. Rotary vane oil-sealed vacuum pumps are suitable for clean, dry, non-condensing gas service down to 0.001 mbar abs in compact laboratory and small workshop applications. Steam jet ejectors are selected when large volumes of utility steam are readily available (as in Saudi Arabia's refinery and petrochemical complexes), when high-temperature vapours must be handled without any moving parts, when highly corrosive gases would attack mechanical pump internals, or when the zero-maintenance advantage of a no-moving-parts device outweighs the operating steam consumption cost. Contact Gulf Union Ozone with your process gas composition, required vacuum level in mbar abs, pumping speed in m³/h, process gas temperature, and any ATEX zone classification for a matched vacuum technology recommendation and system design for your Saudi Arabia facility.

In Summary

Vacuum pumps are essential for degassing, deaeration, crystallisation, distillation, and solvent-recovery processes at SABIC and Aramco petrochemical plants. Gulf Union Ozone stocks liquid-ring vacuum pumps for wet-vapour service — the most common type in Saudi refinery and gas-processing applications — dry-running claw and screw vacuum pumps for clean-gas applications requiring oil-free vacuum, and rotary-vane vacuum pumps for laboratory and instrument air supply. Liquid-ring pumps use water or glycol as sealant fluid with a closed-loop cooling system to conserve water in Saudi Arabia's water-scarce environment. ATEX Zone 1 certified motors and electrics are standard for all vacuum pumps supplied to onshore and offshore petrochemical service.

Do your liquid ring vacuum pumps handle corrosive vapours in Saudi Arabia's chemical industry?

Yes. Gulf Union Ozone supplies liquid ring vacuum pumps (LRVPs) specifically configured for corrosive vapour service in Saudi Arabia's chemical, petrochemical, and water treatment industries. The LRVP design is particularly well-suited to corrosive vapour applications because the process gas stream contacts primarily the service liquid — water or a compatible chemical solvent — rather than the pump metal internals. The rotating liquid ring acts as both the vacuum-generating mechanism and a vapour-scrubbing barrier between the gas stream and the pump casing, absorbing soluble vapours and preventing direct metal attack by aggressive gas components. For mildly corrosive vapours (ammonium sulphate, dilute acid vapours, water vapour at elevated temperature), SS 316L impeller and casing LRVPs provide superior corrosion resistance over cast iron and are the standard specification for Saudi Arabia chemical process vacuum service. For moderately corrosive service involving HCl vapour concentrations, chlorinated solvent vapours, bromine vapour, and seawater entrainment — common in Saudi Arabia's coastal chemical facilities near Yanbu and Jubail — LRVPs with full SS 316L wetted parts (casing, impeller, shaft, and mechanical seal gland plate) are specified with Viton O-rings and PTFE mechanical seals. For highly aggressive service involving high concentrations of HCl, HF, chlorine gas, hydrogen bromide, and similar halogen acid vapours — present in alkylation units, HF acid regeneration, chlorine production, and specialty chemical manufacturing — PVDF body LRVPs provide exceptional chemical resistance. The PVDF LRVP features a PVDF-moulded casing, SS 316L or ceramic impeller, PTFE-lined port connections, and PTFE mechanical seal components throughout. The service liquid must be chemically compatible with the PVDF construction — typically process condensate, deionised water, or a dilute acid solution matching the vapour composition to prevent unfavourable concentration build-up in the liquid ring during operation. For the most aggressive service involving concentrated HF, wet HCl, and strong oxidising acids at elevated temperatures, Hastelloy C-276 casing and impeller LRVPs (or titanium for seawater chlorination duty at Saudi Arabia's desalination pre-chlorination facilities) provide ultimate corrosion resistance. Service liquid alternatives such as glycol solutions, dilute acid, or other chemically compatible process solvents can replace water as the seal liquid where water would contaminate the process, dilute the recovered product stream, or cause undesirable chemical reactions at the inlet conditions. Contact Gulf Union Ozone with your vapour composition including all components and concentrations, inlet gas temperature, required vacuum level, and any ATEX classification for a corrosion-resistant LRVP material selection for your Saudi Arabia facility.

How do steam jet ejectors work and when are they preferred over mechanical vacuum pumps in Saudi Arabia refinery applications?

Steam jet ejectors (also called steam jet vacuum pumps or steam injectors) operate on the Venturi principle: high-pressure motivating steam (typically 8–20 barg) expands through a converging-diverging nozzle, converting pressure energy into very high velocity kinetic energy — achieving supersonic velocity in the diverging nozzle section. This high-velocity steam jet entrains and accelerates the suction gas or vapour from the vacuum process connection in the mixing chamber, and the combined mixture then decelerates through a diffuser section where kinetic energy is reconverted to pressure, compressing the entrained gas to a higher absolute pressure at the ejector discharge. In a multi-stage steam jet ejector system — typically two to five stages with inter-stage condensers between each stage — each successive ejector stage compresses the gas from a lower to a higher absolute pressure, with inter-stage surface or direct-contact condensers removing the motivating steam and condensable vapours to reduce the suction load and steam consumption of the next stage. The achievable vacuum depends on the number of stages: a single-stage ejector achieves approximately 50–150 mbar abs; two-stage systems with one inter-stage condenser reach 5–20 mbar abs; three-stage systems reach 0.5–2 mbar abs; and five-stage systems can reach 0.05–0.1 mbar abs for ultra-deep vacuum applications such as molecular distillation. Steam jet ejectors are preferred over mechanical vacuum pumps in Saudi Arabia refinery and petrochemical applications for several specific engineering and economic reasons. First, when the process gas stream contains high-temperature vapours at 200–400°C from distillation column overheads — including hydrocarbon vapours, cracked gas fractions, and steam — that would immediately condense inside a mechanical vacuum pump and destroy the seals and bearings within hours of operation. The ejector has no internal moving parts and no upper temperature limit on the gas inlet, making it uniquely suited to hot vapour service. Second, when large quantities of utility steam are already available on-site at low incremental cost — as in Saudi Arabia's major refinery and petrochemical complexes with centralised steam systems at Saudi Aramco Ras Tanura, Jubail, and Yanbu facilities — making the steam operating cost acceptable and offsetting the advantage of a mechanical pump's lower operating cost at smaller scale. Third, when the suction gas contains highly corrosive vapours including H2S, HCl, chlorinated compounds, and pyrophoric gases that would rapidly attack mechanical vacuum pump internals even with corrosion-resistant materials — steam ejectors in SS 316L or Hastelloy C-276 construction handle these media reliably without moving parts to corrode or seize. Fourth, for crude oil vacuum distillation column (VDU) and lube oil vacuum distillation applications — the dominant vacuum pump technology in Saudi Aramco refineries — the steam ejector system is preferred because it handles large gas-load surges during column upsets without tripping, requires no spare pump equipment, and maintains stable column vacuum pressure during changing process feed conditions. Gulf Union Ozone supplies single-stage, two-stage, three-stage, and multi-stage steam jet ejector systems in SS 316L, Hastelloy C-276, or carbon steel construction with inter-stage surface or direct-contact condensers, barometric legs, hot wells and condensate pumps, vacuum controllers, and full process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for all Saudi Arabia refinery, petrochemical, and specialty chemical plant vacuum distillation and process vacuum applications.

In Summary

Industrial vacuum systems for Saudi Aramco pigging operations, pipeline hydrostatic testing de-watering, and tank cleaning degas service require vacuum trucks and portable vacuum pump skids rated to 95% vacuum. Gulf Union Ozone supplies pneumatic vacuum conveyors for powder and bulk solid transfer at cement plants in Yanbu, Hail, and Jizan — negating the need for mechanical conveyors in dusty environments. Vacuum filtration systems for mineral processing and chemical precipitation at Saudi mining and industrial sites. All vacuum pump models for hazardous duty comply with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and Saudi Aramco GI-0002.0 rotating equipment standards.
