Industrial Air Cleaning Solutions

Fume Extraction Systems

Gulf Union Ozone supplies a complete range of fume extraction and local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems for Saudi Arabia's fabrication workshops, petrochemical maintenance yards, and industrial facilities. Our range covers portable and bench-mounted welding fume extractors with EN 15012-1 W3-class filtration (99% at 0.4 µm) for MMA, MIG/MAG, and TIG welding; backdraft canopy hoods designed to BS EN 12097 for uniform face velocity over furnaces and dip tanks; 2 m and 3 m articulated extraction arms with self-supporting spiral duct for workstation-level fume capture; and self-supporting mobile fume arms with 4–6 m reach for large Saudi fabrication bays. High-efficiency cartridge filter extraction units with H13/H14 HEPA filtration and ATEX Zone 22 certification are available for metal dust, dry paint mist, and chemical fumes. Terminal H14 and U15 HEPA exhaust units prevent sub-micron particulate release for pharmaceutical, electronics, and specialist facilities. All mobile extractors, HEPA elements, and cartridge replacement kits are held in our Jeddah warehouse for next-day dispatch during plant shutdowns. On-site LEV face-velocity testing and certification to Saudi OSHA standards is carried out by our Jeddah service team. ISO 9001:2015 certified (CR 4030570569).

Frequently Asked Questions

Fume Extraction Systems in Saudi Arabia — Common Questions

What filter class is required for welding fume extraction in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources references the same thresholds as IARC Group 1 classification (welding fume classified as a human carcinogen since 2017). Equipment standard EN 15012-1 defines W3 as the minimum filter class for welding fume (99% filtration efficiency at 0.4 µm). Gulf Union Ozone recommends W3 cartridge filter units with a HEPA secondary stage for MMA welding where manganese-bearing fume is highest. All our welding extractors carry CE and EN 15012-1 certification.

How is a canopy hood face velocity measured and what is the correct value?

Face velocity is measured with a calibrated hot-wire anemometer or vane anemometer across the open face area of the hood. For canopy hoods over hot processes, a face velocity of 0.25–0.5 m/s at the hood face is typically required to capture rising thermal plumes without excessive air volume. Slot hoods at process tanks should maintain 0.5–1.0 m/s face velocity. Gulf Union Ozone provides on-site measurement and issues LEV test certificates in accordance with the Saudi OSHA Ministerial Order No. 3337.

Can fume extraction systems be used in ATEX classified areas?

Yes, but equipment must carry ATEX certification appropriate to the zone. For Zone 22 (combustible dust cloud present occasionally during normal operation), fans and motors must be Ex ec or Ex tc Category 3D, and filter housings must be earthed and bonded. For Zone 21 (dust cloud present during normal operation), Category 2D equipment is required. Gulf Union Ozone supplies ATEX-rated fans, cartridge filters and ductwork components for Saudi chemical, pharmaceutical and paint facilities.
