Type 01

Induced-Draft Cooling Towers — Counter-Flow

Induced-draft counter-flow cooling towers in FRP/GRP construction — the most widely used industrial cooling tower type in Saudi Arabia for process cooling in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, and HVAC applications. Air flows vertically upward through the fill media counter-current to the downward-falling hot water, maximising thermal performance per unit footprint. Axial propeller fan mounted at top of tower induces air flow through the fill (induced-draft arrangement) — fan in clean, cool exit-air stream reduces motor temperature and extends motor life. Fill media: counter-flow PVC cellular pack (0.5mm corrugated film, hang-type or block-type). Drift eliminators: PVC, drift rate ≤0.0005% by volume. Casing: UV-resistant FRP/GRP moulded panels; integral cold water sump. Available in factory-assembled modules from 50 TR to 500 TR; field-erected modular multi-cell units to 5000 TR+. Type 02

Induced-Draft Cooling Towers — Cross-Flow

Induced-draft cross-flow cooling towers where air flows horizontally through the fill media perpendicular to the vertically falling water — offering lower approach temperature for some process cooling duties, easier fill inspection, and lower pump head requirement (reduced water distribution height) compared to counter-flow designs. Preferred for large HVAC chiller cooling systems and refinery cooling water systems where low pump head and gravity-fed distribution is advantageous. Water distribution: open trough-type with hot water basin at top and gravity-fed through distribution nozzles over the splash or film fill. Fill media: cross-flow PVC splash bar or film pack. FRP/GRP casing; induced-draft axial fan at top. Factory-assembled modules 100 TR to 1000 TR; multi-cell field-erected to 5000 TR+. CTI ATC-105 thermal performance certification. Stainless steel or epoxy-coated cold water sump.

Type 03

Forced-Draft Cooling Towers

Forced-draft cooling towers with the fan mounted at the base of the tower inlet, pushing air through the fill media — suited for low-noise, low-profile installations and harsh environments where induced-draft fans would be exposed to warm, humid discharge air. Centrifugal or axial fan at air inlet forces air into the fill section; exit air discharges upward through the tower top without a fan (natural buoyancy assist). Lower fan blade stress compared to induced-draft; fan and motor in ambient air away from discharge plume — suitable for installations with noise restrictions (near residential boundaries in Jeddah and Riyadh industrial zones). FRP/GRP casing; counter-flow or cross-flow fill media PVC or HDPE. Galvanised steel or SS sump. Factory-assembled 50 TR to 500 TR. CTI ATC-105 certified.

Type 04

Natural-Draft Cooling Towers

Hyperbolic natural-draft cooling towers for utility-scale power generation and large petrochemical process cooling in Saudi Arabia — no mechanical fan required; buoyancy-driven air movement through the reinforced concrete hyperbolic shell (typical height 100m–200m). Used at Saudi Arabia power generation stations, SWCC desalination plants, and large integrated refinery/petrochemical complexes (Jubail, Yanbu, Ras Tanura) where large heat rejection capacity (above 20 000 TR) and low long-term operating cost outweigh the high initial capital cost. Film fill PVC or splash fill; reinforced concrete shell; stainless steel water distribution piping; cold water pond with liner. Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) subcontracting available. Shell design to BS EN 13791 / ACI 307.

Type 05

Dry Coolers (Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers)

Dry coolers (also called air-cooled fluid coolers or air-blast coolers) reject heat to ambient air via a finned-tube heat exchanger coil — with no evaporation of process fluid, zero water consumption, and no drift or Legionella risk. Essential for inland Saudi Arabia sites with limited water supply, or where HVAC chiller condensers or process fluid coolers require a fully closed-circuit waterless solution. Coil materials: copper tube + aluminium fin (most common, economical) for water-glycol cooling circuits; stainless steel SS 316L tube + SS fin for mild-chemical fluid cooling; all-SS (SS 316L) for corrosive process fluids. Frame: galvanised steel or powder-coat aluminium. Fan: axial propeller, direct drive or gearbox, variable speed drive (VSD) for energy saving during cooler Saudi nights. Capacity range: 50 kW to 5000 kW. EC fan motors for ultra-low energy consumption available. Glycol anti-freeze circuits for cold winter nights (Tabuk, Hail).

Type 06

Adiabatic Coolers

Adiabatic coolers combine the water-saving advantage of a dry cooler with evaporative cooling performance during peak summer heat — water is sprayed onto adiabatic pre-cooling pads upstream of the finned heat exchanger coil, reducing inlet air temperature by 8°C–15°C and dramatically improving cooling capacity during the hottest Saudi summer days (ambient 45–50°C) when dry cooler capacity falls significantly. Water consumption is 70–90% less than equivalent evaporative cooling towers. Pre-cooling pads: cellulose, glass fibre, or evaporation media — only wetted during peak duty. Ideal for data centre cooling, precision HVAC, and pharmaceutical process cooling in Saudi Arabia where cooling reliability during peak summer is critical but water consumption must be minimised. VSD fan drives and PLС-controlled pre-wetting logic for energy optimisation. Capacity range: 50 kW to 3000 kW. Closed-circuit arrangement — process fluid never contacts ambient air or water.
