Wall Thickness Tolerances

API 5L seamless pipe allows wall thickness tolerances of +20% / −12.5% of the specified wall thickness. ERW pipe has tighter rolling tolerances. PSL2 adds additional dimensional verification requirements at the pipe ends (expanded or cropped) to ensure weld fit-up quality in the field.

Seamless vs ERW — Which to Specify?
