Gulf Union Ozone supplies a complete range of wet scrubbers and gas treatment systems for industrial air pollution control across Saudi Arabia. Our portfolio covers packed column scrubbers in counter-current and cross-flow configurations, venturi scrubbers for combined particulate and gas absorption, spray tower scrubbers where low pressure drop is paramount, tray column absorbers for high-efficiency multi-stage gas absorption, and fully engineered multi-stage scrubber trains for complex vent gas treatment. Target gases include SO2, HCl, HF, Cl2, H2S, NH3, formaldehyde, and VOCs. Shell materials: FRP/GRP (hand lay-up and filament-wound to BS 4994 and ASTM D3299), polypropylene (PP), PVDF, SS 316L, duplex SS 2205, and rubber-lined carbon steel. Packing types: PP and SS Pall rings (25–75 mm), Raschig rings, and structured Mellapak 250Y. Design based on liquid-to-gas ratio, NTU/HTU methodology, and SASO and Saudi Aramco SAEP-327 emission standards. ISO 9001:2015 certified (CR 4030570569). Stocked and dispatched from Jeddah.

Gulf Union Ozone carries six wet scrubber and gas treatment system configurations, each engineered for specific gas-liquid absorption requirements in Saudi Arabia industrial, chemical, and petrochemical facilities. All systems are designed to SASO emission limits and Saudi Aramco SAEP-327 environmental requirements, with material selection matched to gas and liquid chemistry for reliable long-term corrosion resistance in the Kingdom's demanding climate conditions.
Counter-current packed column scrubbers — the highest-efficiency wet scrubber design — for HCl, SO2, HF, Cl2, and NH3 absorption in Saudi Arabia industrial facilities. Shell materials: FRP/GRP (BS 4994), PP, PVDF, and SS 316L. Random packing: PP and SS Pall rings (25–75 mm), Raschig rings. Structured packing: Mellapak 250Y. Design based on NTU/HTU methodology; liquid-to-gas ratios 1.5–8 L/Nm³; removal efficiency ≥99% for HCl and ≥97% for SO2 at design conditions. SASO and Saudi Aramco SAEP-327 emission compliance.
Crossflow packed scrubbers — gas flows horizontally through a vertical packing bed irrigated from above — supplied for SO2, HCl, and mixed acid-gas streams in Saudi Arabia where vertical headroom is limited. Compact footprint versus counter-current columns; gas-side pressure drop 150–500 Pa. FRP, PP, and SS 316L shells; PP Pall ring and Raschig ring packing. Suitable for gas flows 1,000–50,000 Nm³/h. Preferred for retrofit installations in confined plant rooms with limited overhead clearance at Saudi chemical and industrial sites.
Venturi scrubbers for simultaneous particulate capture and acid gas absorption for Saudi Arabia exhaust streams carrying dust loads alongside SO2, HCl, or other acid gases. The SS 316L or rubber-lined carbon steel venturi throat creates high relative velocity between gas and scrubbing liquid, achieving particulate capture ≥99% for particles above 2 µm and gas absorption in a single unit. Adjustable throat versions allow turndown without efficiency loss. Suited to furnace off-gas, incinerator exhaust, reactor vents, and Saudi Aramco GOSP vent gas with combined PM and acid gas emission requirements.
Spray towers — open vessels with multiple levels of full-cone or hollow-cone nozzles irrigating the ascending gas stream — for Saudi Arabia applications where fan pressure budget is severely limited. Gas-side pressure drop below 200 Pa makes spray towers the preferred first-stage pre-scrubber ahead of a packed column or as standalone units for coarse-particle and high-concentration pre-treatment of large-volume flue gas. FRP/GRP shells to ASTM D3299; SS 316L nozzles; NaOH, Na2CO3, or lime slurry scrubbing liquor circulation. SO2 removal efficiency 50–70% per stage as a pre-absorber.
Tray column absorbers — with sieve trays, valve trays, or bubble-cap trays — providing the highest gas absorption efficiency in wet scrubbing, preferred for H2S removal, HCl recovery, and ammonia stripping in Saudi Arabia chemical and petrochemical plants. Gulf Union Ozone supplies tray column absorbers in SS 316L and duplex SS 2205 with five to ten tray stages for applications requiring outlet concentrations below 10 ppm. Each tray maintains a defined liquid head for intimate gas-liquid contact. Valve and bubble-cap trays offer stable operation over wide turndown ranges required by batch chemical production cycles.
Multi-stage scrubber trains — two or three scrubbing stages in series, each optimised for a different gas or pH range — for Saudi Arabia applications requiring simultaneous removal of multiple pollutants or very low outlet emission limits. A typical GOSP sour vent train comprises a venturi pre-scrubber for particulate removal, an acid-stage packed column for SO2, and an alkali-stage packed column (NaOH) for H2S and residual acid gas. Three-stage trains for HCl recovery plants sequence from H2SO4 pre-wash to HCl absorption to alkali polish, achieving combined multi-pollutant removal efficiencies exceeding 99.9%.
All wet scrubbers and gas treatment systems supplied with material traceability documentation, fabrication certifications, and performance data sheets. FRP/GRP vessels manufactured to BS 4994 and ASTM D3299. SASO emission compliance documentation and Saudi Aramco SAEP-327 conformance available. ISO 9001:2015 QMS (CR 4030570569).

Gulf Union Ozone supplies four principal wet scrubber designs for acid gas treatment in Saudi Arabia industrial facilities, and selection depends on gas concentration, required removal efficiency, pressure drop allowance, and particulate loading. Packed column counter-current scrubbers — the most common design — provide the highest gas absorption efficiency (≥99% for HCl at design L/G ratio) with structured or random packing and are best suited to high-concentration acid gas streams where close approach to equilibrium is needed. Cross-flow packed scrubbers offer a more compact footprint and lower gas-side pressure drop than counter-current designs and are preferred when headroom is limited or when treating moderate-concentration SO2 or HCl streams with particulate co-removal. Venturi scrubbers are selected when the gas stream carries significant particulate loading alongside the acid gas: the venturi throat provides high-energy gas-liquid contact for simultaneous particulate capture (≥99% for particles above 2 µm) and gas absorption in a single vessel, making them well-suited for furnace exhaust, incinerator off-gas, and process streams with sticky or tarry particulates. Spray tower scrubbers sacrifice absorption efficiency for very low pressure drop (below 200 Pa) and are used as pre-scrubbers or for coarse SO2 removal from large-volume flue gas streams. Contact Gulf Union Ozone with your gas flow rate, inlet gas concentration, target outlet emission limit (per SASO or project specification), and available pressure drop, and we will recommend the optimum design configuration.
Material selection for wet scrubbers in corrosive gas service is critical because incorrect material choice leads to accelerated corrosion, structural failure, and unplanned plant shutdowns in Saudi Arabia's hot, humid coastal and desert environments. Gulf Union Ozone supplies wet scrubbers in a full range of corrosion-resistant materials matched to gas-liquid chemistry. FRP/GRP (fibre-reinforced plastic, hand lay-up and filament wound to BS 4994 and ASTM D3299) is the most widely used shell material for HCl, SO2, Cl2, and dilute H2SO4 service — it combines low weight, high corrosion resistance, and relatively low fabrication cost. Polypropylene (PP) is preferred for lower-pressure, lower-temperature HCl, NH3, and HF scrubber shells and internals — chemically inert to most dilute acids and alkalis. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is specified for HF gas service and aggressive halogenated compound scrubbing, maintaining strength and chemical resistance at continuous service temperatures to 120°C where PP or FRP would degrade. Stainless steel 316L is used for SO2 and H2S scrubbers where temperature, pressure, or regulatory documentation requirements necessitate a metallic vessel — SS 316L withstands dilute H2SO4 and offers robust mechanical properties and pressure vessel certifiability. Duplex stainless steel SS 2205 is specified for high-chloride or combined SO2/Cl2/HCl service. Rubber-lined carbon steel is used for very large venturi scrubbers handling incinerator exhaust or hot particulate-laden gas streams requiring both thermal shock resistance and abrasion resistance at the lowest possible vessel cost.
Gas scrubbers installed in Saudi Arabia industrial facilities must comply with a hierarchy of emission regulations. The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) sets primary air emission limits under the Saudi Environmental Regulations, specifying concentration limits for SO2, HCl, HF, NOx, particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), and VOCs from industrial point sources — these limits apply to all new and existing facilities and must be verified by stack testing. The Saudi Aramco Environmental Protection Standard SAEP-327 imposes additional and often more stringent requirements on contractors supplying to Aramco facilities, including GOSP vent gas scrubbers and refinery process vents. For stacks exceeding 50 metres in height, Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) certified to EN 14181 are required for real-time SO2, HCl, NOx, and particulate monitoring. The National Centre for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) conducts periodic inspection and enforcement of emission compliance. For new projects, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required before construction, and the scrubber design must demonstrate compliance with modelled ground-level concentration limits at the site boundary. Gulf Union Ozone's engineering team can assist with equipment sizing to meet SASO emission limits and can supply CEMS-compatible scrubber systems with flue gas measurement ports to EN ISO 16911 standards for stack testing access.
