Use 2mm gasket sheet when: (1) The flange faces have visible corrosion, pitting, or surface damage that requires a thicker seal to conform and bridge. (2) The application has low bolt torque and a thicker, more compressible gasket is needed. (3) Manufacturer specifications require 2mm. For smooth machined flanges, 0.5mm or 1mm is usually preferred as thinner gaskets require less bolt load to achieve full compression.
