The most widely used carbon brush family in industrial applications. Electrographite grades EG4, EG17, EG34, EG54, EG64, EG98, EG104, EG225, EG317, EG344, and EG365 are manufactured by graphitising carbon at temperatures above 2500°C to produce a low-friction, self-lubricating material. Resistivity range 8–55 μΩ·m; current density up to 15 A/cm²; maximum peripheral speed 35–50 m/s depending on grade. Conforming to IEC 60136, DIN 43138, and IEC 60951. Suitable for DC motors, wound-rotor induction motors, synchronous generators, crane and hoist motors, and compressor drives.
Metal-graphite (copper-graphite) brushes for very high current density at low contact voltage drop. Grades MG24, MG25, MG75, and MG124 contain 70–90% copper by weight sintered with graphite to achieve resistivity as low as 0.5–5 μΩ·m and current densities of 20–50 A/cm². Maximum peripheral speed is limited to 15–20 m/s due to higher hardness and abrasion. Conforming to IEC 60136 and DIN 43138. Principal applications include welding generators, low-voltage high-current DC drives, electroplating rectifier motors, electrolytic plant equipment, and slip ring assemblies carrying large excitation currents.
Natural graphite grades NG17 and NG27 are soft, low-friction brushes produced from high-purity natural graphite flake, delivering ultra-low contact pressure and minimum film abrasion on collector rings at peripheral speeds up to 60 m/s. Ideal for high-speed turbine generators, aerospace generators, and smooth slip ring surfaces. Carbon graphite grades CG2 and CG4 use a harder carbon-graphite matrix for low-speed DC motors (up to 15 m/s) where commutator film formation is critical. Resistivity 15–80 μΩ·m; Shore hardness 20–45. Conforming to IEC 60136, DIN 43138, and BS 4244. Suitable for turbo-alternators, marine generators, MV slip ring motors, and fractional-HP DC drives.
Silver-graphite brushes contain 10–50% silver by weight, providing very low resistivity (0.3–2 μΩ·m), low contact voltage drop, and stable electrical contact at high frequencies. Grades AG3 (30% Ag), AG5 (50% Ag), and AG10 (10% Ag) are used in precision slip ring assemblies, data transmission rings, instrumentation rotary joints, and radio-frequency equipment where minimal signal distortion is required. Maximum peripheral speed 10–25 m/s. Conforming to IEC 60136. The high silver content provides natural anti-corrosion properties, making AG grades well suited to humid and corrosive industrial environments found in coastal and offshore facilities across Saudi Arabia.
Resin-bonded graphite (RST, T924) and pitch-bonded graphite (PB4, P105) grades are manufactured using thermosetting resin or coal-tar pitch binders to achieve controlled porosity, enhanced hardness, and predictable film formation on copper or brass commutator surfaces. Resistivity 20–70 μΩ·m; Shore hardness 60–90 HSD. RST grades are preferred for crane motors, hoisting winches, and variable-speed DC drives where commutator wear must be minimised. Pitch-bonded P105 is suited to large synchronous generator and hydro-turbine brushes where long brush life and stable current sharing between brush sets are critical. Conforming to DIN 43138 and IEC 60951.
Specialty carbon brush products include shaft grounding brushes (grade GP7, electrographite) for bearing current protection in VFD-driven motors and wind turbines, split-type brush assemblies for field replacement without removing the brush holder, beveled top brushes for high-vibration environments, micro brushes (MB series, 3×5 mm to 6×10 mm) for small precision motors, and constant-force spring box assemblies with pre-loaded phosphor bronze or stainless steel springs conforming to IEC 60136. All specialty brushes are supplied with shunt wires (copper or tinned copper, crimped or brazed) and can be dimensioned to match any OEM brush holder specification. Grade certificates and dimensional inspection reports issued with all orders.
Industrial carbon brushes are sliding electrical contacts used in rotating machines — DC motors, AC slip ring motors, alternators, and exciters — to transfer current between the stationary brush holders and the rotating commutator or slip ring. Gulf Union Ozone stocks four principal grades: electrographite (EG) for medium-speed DC motor service at 1.0 to 1.5 A/cm²; carbon-graphite (CG) for slower machines at 0.5 to 1.0 A/cm²; metal-graphite (MG) with copper or silver base for high-current low-voltage service at 8 to 12 A/cm² in traction and plating applications; and natural graphite (NG) for high-speed AC slip ring motors. Grade selection factors include commutator peripheral speed, current density, voltage drop below 1.0 V per brush pair, ambient humidity, and commutation difficulty. Common Saudi Arabia applications include overhead crane motors, centrifugal pump drives, and generator exciters at Aramco power stations. Replace brushes worn below 15mm height or showing chipping or sparking at the commutator. Gulf Union Ozone supplies to OEM drawing dimensions or standard EN 60251 sizes from Jeddah stock.
All grades are stocked in block form in our Jeddah warehouse for same-day or next-day cutting to your required dimensions. Provide the grade, width × thickness × height in mm, shunt wire type, and quantity. Grade certificates, dimensional inspection reports, and Certificates of Conformance are issued with every shipment. Carbon brush selection for slip-ring induction motors, wound-rotor motors, and DC motors at Saudi Aramco process and utility stations requires careful grade matching to the collector ring material and operating current density. Gulf Union Ozone supplies electrographite grades for wound-rotor motor slip rings (low contact drop, long life at high peripheral speed), resin-bonded graphite grades for DC motor commutators (high film strength at high current density), and metal-graphite grades (copper-graphite, silver-graphite) for low-voltage high-current DC applications at electrochemical plants. Brush grade selection is provided free of charge based on motor nameplate data (voltage, current, speed) and application duty (continuous, intermittent, variable speed). Saudi Aramco and SABIC rotating equipment engineers can contact Gulf Union Ozone for brush grade cross-reference from existing OEM part numbers to equivalent stock grades.
Electrographite, metal-graphite, and natural graphite grade blocks are held in our Jeddah safety stock. Orders confirmed by midday ship same day. Emergency carbon brush supply for plant breakdowns and unplanned outages across Saudi Arabia.
Grade certificates per IEC 60951, dimensional inspection reports, Certificates of Conformance, OEM cross-reference data sheets, and packing lists are prepared and ready to ship with every order. No delays waiting for paperwork.
Our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system (CR 4030570569) covers incoming grade verification, dimensional spot checks to IEC 60136 tolerances, and full traceability from mill certificate to packing list for every carbon brush order.

Gulf Union Ozone carbon brush supply delivers across Saudi Arabia from the Jeddah bonded stock: standard electrographite and resin-bonded brush grades for common motor frame sizes are available same-day in Jeddah, 48–72 hours to Jubail and Dammam, 72–96 hours to Riyadh. Emergency brush supply during motor turnaround at Jubail and Yanbu refineries is supported with next-day delivery from Jeddah for stocked grades. All carbon brushes are supplied with the manufacturer's quality certificate confirming grade designation, resistivity, hardness (Shore), and contact drop at rated current density. Brush holders, tension springs, shunts (flexible pigtails), and brush pressure gauges for maintenance are stocked alongside the brush grades. Custom brush profiles (non-standard dimensions, special face geometry) are machined at the Jeddah workshop within 5–7 working days from approved drawing.
Carbon brushes for SWCC desalination plant electrochlorination systems, electrolysis cells, and impressed-current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems use metal-graphite grades with high copper content — typically 50–80% copper — for high-current-density low-voltage DC applications where contact drop must be minimised. Gulf Union Ozone supplies copper-graphite and silver-graphite brush grades for electrolytic applications at SWCC Jubail, Yanbu, and Shuqaiq desalination plants, rated to 400 A/dm² contact current density. Brush spring pressure and holder geometry are critical for electrochemical applications — Gulf Union Ozone provides spring-tension specifications and holder design assistance to maximise contact efficiency and minimise heat generation in electrochlorination cell assemblies. Graphite-only grades (electrographite and natural graphite) for pantograph current collectors and overhead conductor systems at Saudi railway infrastructure (Haramain, SAR, Riyadh Metro) are also stocked. All brush grades are supplied with manufacturer's quality certificates showing resistivity, hardness, and contact drop at rated current.
