Saudi Aramco SAES-A-007 requires monitoring of produced and injection water for oil-in-water (Turner online or HACH DR3900 colorimetric), suspended solids (Millipore filtration), dissolved oxygen (DO analyser), total dissolved solids (conductivity bridge), pH, and iron (colorimetric or ICP-OES). For offshore injection, barium, sulphate and strontium are also monitored to prevent scale incompatibility. Gulf Union Ozone supplies the full instrument suite with SAEP-1150 calibration documentation.
Karl-Fischer titration is a selective electrochemical method that reacts water with iodine in the presence of sulphur dioxide and a base. Coulometric KF titrators (for low-water-content samples, <1000 ppm) generate iodine electrolytically and measure the charge required; volumetric KF titrators (for higher water content, >0.1%) deliver KF reagent from a burette and calculate water from the volume consumed. Gulf Union Ozone supplies both types with automated burette, magnetic stirrer and GLP printer for refinery jet-fuel, lube oil and crude-oil QC applications.
