Gulf Union Ozone supplies deaerators and boiler feed water systems for Saudi Arabia power generation, industrial steam, refining, and petrochemical facilities. Our deaerator range is designed to ASME Section VIII Division 1 (pressure vessel), HEI Standards for Steam Surface Condensers, and NACE SP0169 (corrosion mitigation). Types available include: spray-type (pegged tray) pressurised deaerators (0.2–50 t/h, 0.2–1.2 barg, dissolved O2 below 7 ppb); tray-type cascade deaerators for high-pressure boiler duty (lower residual O2, better CO2 stripping); atmospheric spray deaerators and hotwell tanks for small steam systems; combined deaerating feedtanks (integrated storage and deaeration vessel); vacuum deaerators for low-temperature feed water applications; and packaged deaerator skids with boiler feed water pumps and PLC control panels. Chemical oxygen scavenger injection (DEHA, sodium sulphite) available as a backup dosing option integrated with the deaerator skid. Dissolved oxygen causes pitting corrosion of carbon steel boiler tubes (ASME Section I limits O2 to below 7 ppb). CO2 removal reduces carbonic acid attack on condensate return lines. Saudi Aramco boiler chemistry specification compliance. ISO 9001:2015 certified (CR 4030570569). Stocked in Jeddah.

Dissolved oxygen is one of the most damaging contaminants in boiler feed water systems in Saudi Arabia. Oxygen causes electrochemical pitting corrosion of carbon steel boiler tubes, economisers, condensate return lines, and deaerator storage tanks — the pitting mechanism involves cathodic oxygen reduction cells on the steel surface, leading to deep, localised perforation even at low oxygen concentrations. ASME Section I (Power Boilers) and the ASME Consensus on Water Quality require boiler feed water dissolved oxygen below 7 ppb (0.007 ppm) for boilers operating above 17.5 bar, and below 20 ppb for lower-pressure package boilers — levels achievable only by mechanical deaeration, not by chemical oxygen scavenging alone. Carbon dioxide (CO2), also removed by deaeration, dissolves in condensate to form carbonic acid (H2CO3), which corrodes copper alloy and carbon steel condensate return lines and depresses pH below 6.5, accelerating attack. In Saudi Arabia, where Arabian Gulf and Red Sea desalinated make-up water is used as boiler feed, elevated total dissolved solids (TDS) in source water make deaeration even more critical for maintaining ASME and Saudi Aramco boiler chemistry specifications. A spray-type or tray-type mechanical deaerator removes the bulk of dissolved oxygen and CO2 by steam stripping, with chemical oxygen scavenging (DEHA or sodium sulphite) used only as a residual polishing step.
Deaerators remove dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide from boiler feedwater at Saudi Aramco power stations, SWCC desalination plants, and industrial steam generators — preventing internal corrosion of boiler tubes and steam headers. Gulf Union Ozone supplies spray-tray atmospheric deaerators and pressure deaerators rated to ASME Section VIII Division 1, in carbon steel SA-516 Grade 70 construction with stainless steel spray nozzles and trays. Deaeration to 7 ppb dissolved oxygen (0.005 cc/L) is achievable with properly designed spray-tray combination units. Oxygen scavenger chemical dosing connections and level gauge connections are integrated into the vessel design per Saudi Aramco General Instruction requirements.
Spray-type deaerators use a pegged or perforated spray nozzle to atomise incoming cold feed water into fine droplets, which are then contacted with steam flowing countercurrently through the deaerator vessel headspace. The steam heats the droplets to saturation temperature, drives off dissolved gases (O2 and CO2), and the released gases exit through a calibrated vent. Spray-type deaerators are compact, simple in construction, and achieve dissolved O2 outlet levels below 7 ppb for pressurised designs operating at 0.2 to 1.2 barg. They are the most common choice for package boilers and medium-pressure industrial boiler installations throughout Saudi Arabia. Tray-type (cascade-tray) deaerators use a series of horizontal perforated stainless steel trays over which the incoming feed water cascades in thin sheets, giving a much greater liquid surface area for steam-water contact and mass transfer. The cascade tray design provides superior oxygen removal — typically below 3.5 ppb dissolved O2 outlet — and better CO2 stripping, making tray-type deaerators the preferred choice for high-pressure power boilers above 60 bar and large-capacity utility steam systems. Tray-type deaerators are larger and heavier than spray-type units of the same throughput and require more headroom for tray stack installation. For Saudi Arabia package boiler applications from 0.2 to 10 t/h, spray-type pressurised deaerators are typically specified; for plant utility steam and high-pressure boilers above 10 t/h, tray-type deaerators are standard.
SAEP-347 and SAMSS-related steam system components including deaerator storage tanks, boiler feedwater pumps, and steam traps are supplied by Gulf Union Ozone as integrated packages. Deaerator storage tank construction follows ASME Section VIII with ASME Code stamp and National Board registration — mandatory for Saudi Aramco pressure vessel registration with Royal Commission Jubail and Yanbu or with SASO. Internal pressure parts are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 MTCs for plate material (SA-516-70), nozzle forgings (SA-105), and welding consumables. Deaeration efficiency tests are performed at the factory and documented in the test report submitted to the Saudi Aramco client.
Sizing a deaerator for a Saudi Arabia package boiler installation requires calculation of three principal parameters: throughput, storage capacity, and steam consumption. First, determine the total boiler feed water flow rate in tonnes per hour — this equals the sum of boiler steam output plus blowdown (typically 3–10% for RO-treated feed water), minus condensate return. For a 2 t/h steam boiler with 80% condensate return and 5% blowdown, the deaerator throughput is approximately 0.6 t/h net deaerator duty. Second, size the storage section for 10 to 20 minutes of boiler feed water at rated throughput — providing buffer time for operator response to makeup water supply interruptions. A 2 t/h steam boiler requires approximately 330 to 670 litres of deaerator storage volume. Third, calculate the steam consumption of the deaerator — typically 0.5 to 1.0% of the total throughput for pressurised designs at 0.2 to 1.2 barg; this steam is vented from the headspace and is normally recovered through a vent condenser to minimise energy loss. The deaerator vessel must be designed to ASME Section VIII Division 1 with a safety relief valve rated for the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP). Inlet water temperature should be pre-heated above 60°C to minimise steam consumption and vent losses. Contact Gulf Union Ozone for a deaerator sizing calculation specific to your Saudi Arabia package boiler or process steam system.
